FORT DALLES RODEO FLAG TEAM RULES

1. Fort Dalles Rodeo Flag Team members (hereafter referred to as members) must be Gilliam, Hood River, Sherman, or Wasco, County Oregon, Klickitat or Skamania County Washington residents. They must either be a high school graduate or be passing their classes, and not pregnant.

2. All flag team members and family members are expected to represent the Fort Dalles Rodeo in a courteous, professional manner. A positive attitude and teamwork is expected. Any misconduct, including, but not necessarily limited to, the following will not be tolerated and may be cause for dismissal:

a. Use of illegal drugs, tobacco, or alcohol
b. Foul language
c. Inappropriate behavior, including inappropriate behavior with members of the opposite sex
d. Attacks or abuse, either physically or verbally, of other team members, family members, rodeo board members, or court coordinators, including gossip
e. Abuse or neglect of the member’s horse

3. Team members are selected at try-outs, via discretion of the Fort Dalles Rodeo Flag Team committee.

4. Flag team membership is for one calendar year (January 1 through December 31). A member, assuming she still eligible and is chosen at tryouts, may serve unlimited terms.

5. Members must either own their own horse(s) or have a signed, long-term lease. Substitute horses must have the approval of the coordinator. Horses must be healthy, with current vaccinations and worming. The horse must be kept clean, trimmed, and shod. No stallions, late term pregnant mares, or mares with foals allowed.

6. Members are responsible for their own and for their horse’s transportation. Travel and/or meal expenses are not reimbursed.

7. Team members are responsible for the purchase and upkeep of their tack and some clothing. Any lost or torn clothing or tack must be replaced or repaired at the member’s expense. During the reign team clothing and tack may be used only for designated team activities. Members must be dressed in the appropriate outfit (cleaned and pressed), hair, and makeup at all events, as designated by coordinators.

8. Attendance at all area events is mandatory unless absence is pre-approved by the coordinators. Team members are expected to be on time. Tardiness may exclude the member from the event. Excessive tardiness or absences may result in dismissal.

9. Members must agree to the rules and sign the contract. The Fort Dalles Rodeo Flag Team Committee and Coordinators have full authority in making final decisions regarding the team.

By signing this contract you agree that you:

* Agree to follow all Fort Dalles Rodeo Flag Team rules (attached).

* Understand that violation of any rule may result in suspension or dismissal from the team.

* Release the Fort Dalles Rodeo Flag Team Coordinator and Committee, Fort Dalles Rodeo Board and Directors, or their agents from any responsibility for loss, injury, accident, theft, damage, or death to horse, rider, persons, or property.
